On the 12th of November 2013 the premiere episode of Digital Photography Today was available on YouTube with the goal to teach others that gear does not make the photographer. It helps but without becoming the master of your camera you will always blame it on a lack of gear.

The Canon Powershot SX50HS and Nikon D3100 was used to show you how to properly use your camera. If you have different camera you can still work along and get the most of the gear you have and take AWESOME pictures.

Episode 1 kicked off with “Program, the better Auto” where you learned how to shoot in Auto but have a lot more control over your camera with focus points and the ability to control your flash and various other settings.

14 Episodes later and we learned about Focussing on a Subject, the use of Exposure Compensation to adjust the exposure. The purpose of White Balance and using it to think outside the box. We gained a new best friend with the ISO setting and shot Macro pictures and High Speed video on the Powershot SX50HS.

We learned about Shutter Speeds and Aperture and how to creatively apply this to our photography. Then the first season ended with a look at Tripods and Filters.
